Another of my misconceptions: the Arabian Peninsula is not all flat desert. I was flabbergasted by the size of these mountains. There are spots that look like they could rival the Grand Canyon. I could see places that looked like villages or mining locations or something, with roads winding through the mountains and out onto the desert floor.
